Project Overview

Mingwei Jingxi Cloud Computing Data Center is located in the Weixian Economic Development Zone in Zhangjiakou, China. The project was developed by Hebei Mingwei Digital Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Data Group.

The data center is part of Phase I, Area II of the development. The entire campus is planned for approximately 20,000 racks and was designed according to Chinas Class A data center standards.

Machine Room No. 5 is planned for approximately 3,000 high-density racks, supporting AI computing, cloud computing, IDC hosting, and big data storage.

High-density computing rooms face concentrated heat loads, local hot spots, limited equipment space, and the need for continuous operation. To address these requirements, the project adopted Holtop integrated rooftop air conditioning units.

01. Integrated Equipment Layout

Holtop integrated rooftop air conditioning units combine cooling and air treatment in one system. The units are installed outdoors on the building roof, eliminating the need for a separate air conditioning plant room.

Once positioned, the units require only basic pipework and electrical connections before operation. This supports faster installation and helps shorten the construction period.

Compared with distributed air conditioning systems, the integrated layout reduces supporting construction requirements and releases more indoor space for high-density computing equipment.

02. Precise Temperature and Humidity Control

Holtop rooftop air conditioning units use an intelligent control system to respond to real-time IT equipment loads inside the machine room.

The system dynamically adjusts operating conditions and maintains the room temperature within approximately ±2°C and relative humidity within ±10% RH.

This helps reduce the risk of local hot spots, uneven cooling, and temperature or humidity fluctuations, providing a stable environment for high-density GPU and computing clusters.

03. Continuous Fresh Air and Chemical Filtration

The rooftop air conditioning units provide a continuous supply of pre-treated outdoor air. The system is equipped with chemical filtration modules to remove harmful gases such as sulfur compounds, nitrogen compounds, and chlorine compounds.

After treatment, the air quality meets the ISA S71.04 G1 classification requirement. The system also maintains positive pressure inside the machine room to help prevent dust and moisture from entering.

This reduces equipment dust accumulation and static electricity risks while improving the working environment for operation and maintenance personnel. The system can also make use of natural cooling sources to help reduce energy consumption.

Stable air environment for continuous computing

By combining fresh air treatment, chemical filtration, positive pressure control, and intelligent temperature management, the system supports stable operation in high-density data center spaces.

04. Intelligent Dynamic Control

High-density computing rooms can experience significant load fluctuations. Holtops intelligent control system continuously collects data from the room and adjusts the equipment according to changes in temperature, humidity, and pressure.

The system also supports equipment warnings and emergency start-stop functions. These features help improve operational reliability and reduce the workload of data center maintenance teams.

05. Full-Cycle Professional Service

Holtop provided full-cycle support for the data center, including modular equipment selection, customized supply, on-site installation, commissioning, and project coordination.

Through professional technical service and equipment support, Holtop helped ensure that the project was delivered according to schedule and that Machine Room No. 5 could operate with stable environmental control.

Conclusion

The successful operation of Machine Room No. 5 at Mingwei Jingxi Cloud Computing Data Center demonstrates the application of Holtop rooftop air conditioning units in high-density computing environments.

For data centers supporting AI computing, cloud services, and large-scale storage, stable temperature control, fresh air treatment, chemical filtration, and intelligent operation are essential parts of reliable HVAC design.

Holtop will continue to provide professional, intelligent, and energy-conscious HVAC solutions for data centers and other high-load computing facilities.
