Huaneng Xiapu Nuclear Power Base
Holtop provided reliable HVAC solutions for the Huaneng Xiapu Nuclear Power Base, delivering air conditioning systems designed to meet the requirements of different functional areas.
For this nuclear power project, the HVAC systems needed to meet demanding requirements for reliability, corrosion resistance, precise temperature control, and energy efficiency. With proven HVAC technologies and application experience, Holtop supplied high-performance air conditioning products to help create a stable and reliable indoor environment for the nuclear power base.
Project Overview
The Huaneng Xiapu Nuclear Power Base Comprehensive Supporting Project is located in Ningde, Fujian Province, China, and forms an important part of the supporting infrastructure of the Huaneng Xiapu Nuclear Power Base.
The first phase covers approximately 52,000 m² and includes multiple functional areas such as the intelligent control center, comprehensive office buildings, and equipment rooms.
With different buildings and application requirements across the project, the HVAC systems needed to provide reliable operation and precise environmental control.
Holtop supplied screw-type air-cooled chillers and heat recovery air handling units, covering the project’s main functional areas. The equipment combination was designed to address the demanding requirements of the nuclear power supporting facilities.
Key HVAC Solutions
01. High-Efficiency and Low-Carbon Operation
Compared with conventional modular chillers, Holtop screw-type air-cooled chillers achieve an approximately 15%–25% improvement in Integrated Part Load Value (IPLV).
The energy-saving advantage becomes particularly relevant during periods of partial-load operation, such as transitional seasons and nighttime operation, when HVAC systems often operate below their peak capacity.
By matching cooling and heating output with actual load requirements, the system provides energy according to demand rather than continuously operating at full capacity.
This helps reduce energy consumption and operating costs while supporting the low-carbon operation of the nuclear power supporting facilities.
02. Precise Temperature and Humidity Control
Holtop air handling units are equipped with high-precision temperature and humidity sensing systems combined with intelligent control algorithms.
The temperature control accuracy can reach ±0.5°C, allowing the system to respond to changes in indoor load and adjust operating conditions in real time.
For areas such as the intelligent control center, where stable indoor environmental conditions are particularly important, the air handling units maintain the required temperature and humidity parameters with precise control.
This helps reduce the risk of local temperature differences and fluctuations in humidity, providing a stable indoor environment for the continuous operation of the nuclear power base’s intelligent control facilities.
03. Corrosion-Resistant Design for Coastal Environments
Located in a coastal environment, the project requires HVAC equipment to withstand high salt spray and high humidity conditions.
Holtop air conditioning units and terminal products have passed salt spray testing and are designed for demanding coastal environments.
Key internal components use corrosion-resistant materials and sealed designs to help protect equipment from long-term exposure to salt spray and acidic or alkaline media.
The unit casing also provides strong sealing performance and low air leakage, supporting reliable long-term operation.
These design features help extend equipment service life and reduce maintenance requirements in coastal applications.
04. Intelligent Control and Operation
Holtop HVAC systems are equipped with an intelligent control system that continuously monitors equipment operating conditions, matches system output with actual load requirements, and automatically adjusts the number of operating units.
This enables more precise demand-based operation across different areas of the project.
The system also provides equipment warnings and fault diagnosis functions, helping operators identify potential issues and maintain stable operation throughout the year.
According to the project application, intelligent system management can help reduce operating and maintenance costs by approximately 30%–50%, while reducing the workload associated with routine HVAC operation and maintenance.
Reliable HVAC Support for Nuclear Power Facilities
The successful implementation of the Huaneng Xiapu Nuclear Power Base project demonstrates Holtop’s experience in providing HVAC equipment for demanding energy-sector applications.
Through high-efficiency chillers, precise air handling systems, corrosion-resistant designs, and intelligent controls, Holtop provides HVAC solutions that address the combined requirements of reliability, precise environmental control, energy efficiency, and long-term operation.
Holtop will continue to focus on environmental control requirements in the energy sector and provide professional, intelligent, and low-carbon HVAC solutions for industrial and infrastructure projects worldwide.
